A NEW BEGINNING...

English teachers at Los Tilos strive to make our classes more communicatively dynamic by encouraging our students to take initiative, think beyond the mandated textbook, and use language creatively, purposefully, and interactively. We believe that the Communicative Approach must be one of our most important aims when teaching English to our students.

Some of our goals are:

• Integrating Language Skills
• Practicing Speaking (especially through oral presentations and debates)
• Preparing for Real Life
• Acquaring knowledge through English
• Promoting Learner-Centeredness
• Designing activities and opportunities of English language immersion (being this blog our most ambitious project to provide an English experience for our students).

We have been part of the official European Program 'European Portfolio of Languages' since 2009. This blog is a great opportunity for our students to keep track of their Portfolio dossier: a sample of their work from 1st to 4th Grade in Secondary Education. Ideally, we expect them to be more conscious of their development and improvements in acquiring a second language: English.

I have created this blog for my students, but I really hope parents and other visitors also find it interesting and useful! It would be great if you decided to write comments and give us some feedback. We are always open to new suggestions!
